A Stormy Day on the Isle of Arran

The island has been cut off for 2 days days due to stormy weather, so the boat is tied up at the pier. There are no deliveries or post and I'm waiting for some new supplies. It's time to enjoy the peace and quiet with a coastal walk with my furry friend. On return from our walk, I look out my favourite winter recipe book by Nigel Slater - Notes, stories & 100 essential recipes for midwinter - make a Cardamom Banana Cake and pair it with a Restore candle to bring calm and a gentle glow to this dark November day. Simple pleasures. NB: the crispy sugary cardamom topping is very good :)
